LERET LERET: Treat Mom to the Gift of Cashmere

Moms deserve the world–but when you can’t wrap that up for Mother’s Day, you settle for the next best thing: cashmere.

When it comes to cashmere, nobody does it like LERET LERET. This New York based brand, founded by sibling duo Andrea and Edouard Leret, offers a modern take on the classic crew neck. It all started in Mongolia, where the founders discovered the many ways in which graphics could be knitted into cashmere. The local artists and beautiful landscape of the country served as inspiration when creating the brand. The goal was to (quite literally) weave together the stories of the community into narrative pieces that could be worn.

So, why cashmere? While in Mongolia, the founders became captivated by the process by which local artisans produced the fiber by meticulously shearing the rare, high-quality undercoats from the region’s Hircus goats. This century-old tradition is used to produce cashmere that is perfect for unpredictable climates, like that of Mongolia. Inspired by this ethical and beautiful artform, they built LERET LERET and began production right there in the heartland. “We liked the fact the process would all be done in Mongolia supporting a century-old tradition,” the founders share.

Cashmere is also known for its ability to stand the test of time. When given proper care, cashmere sweaters can be passed down through generations, making them perfect for giving as gifts.

Each of LERET LERET’s products feature unique, whimsical graphics that mom, or anyone for that matter, is sure to love. Of course, moms deserve a gift that’s just as one-of-a-kind as them, which is why this Mother’s Day, the brand is offering the opportunity to add custom embroidering with a design of your choosing.

On May 6th and 7th, you can stop by Tina Frey Designs in Montecito to mingle with the owners, shop exclusive LERET LERET pieces, and have them personally embroidered in-store.

Can’t make it to the event? Be sure to keep up with the Journal section on the brand’s website where they announce the latest news and events, and even host contests and giveaways for their online community.
